As I was driving in to work today, I was thinking about the days of the week and how most days have a specific meaning to me except for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays are, well “Mondays”. Wednesday is hump day. Friday is the start of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are obviously the weekend. So where the heck do the other two days fit in?
I decided to look into to these days and find out a little more about them. It turns out thatTuesday and Thursday are two of the most interesting and fiercest in meaning. Who knew?
Tuesday – Tiu’s day
The meaning is related to Ares – God of war. Ares is the only son of the Zeus. He is fearless, impulsive and raring for a fight regardless of the consequences.
This sounds like my husband before his first cup of coffee.
Thursday — Thor’s day
The meaning is related to Thor – God of Thunder. Thor is famous for his hammer and belt of strength. He has a goat-driven chariot that created the noise of the thunder when rolling across the sky. The lightning bolts were caused by the hurling of his hammer.
I immediately related to Thor and envisioned shooting bolts of lightning to get my kids to listen.
I now have a new found respect for these two lost days.
Tell me what your favorite days are?
